    History of The Foundation

    In August 2018, Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama established THE FOUNDATION of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, Inc. in order to more efficiently manage the temporal works of the Church.

    A volunteer Board of Directors was assembled in early 2019 to begin organizing and to ensure proper fiscal and administrative management of The Foundation. Bishop Zarama and the Board of Directors hired its first Foundation Executive Director in June 2019.

    Mission of The Foundation of the Diocese of Raleigh

    The Foundation is the ‘community foundation of the Catholic church’ in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh.

    Our mission is:

    • Build and create Endowment Funds or other long-term gift vehicles for the benefit of any and all parishes and diocesan ministries.
    • Cultivate Donor Prospects to provide parishes and diocesan ministries with a long-term, guaranteed income stream.
    • Manage invested charitable funds and Distribute grants to parishes and diocesan ministries in accordance with the fund agreements.

    The Foundation also serves as a Planned Giving resource to parishes, schools and all diocesan ministries.
